Nevada women’s basketball coach Jane Albright has announced that former Wolf Pack standout Tahnee Robinson and newcomer Kassidy Hardgrove will join her staff as graduate assistants.
Robinson is no stranger to the Nevada women’s basketball program. In just two seasons with the Wolf Pack, she posted an impressive résumé of honors, averaging 19.5 points per game en route to becoming one of Nevada’s 12 1,000 point scorers. Her play on the court led the Pack to back-to-back appearances in the WNIT and to its first 20-win season in 2010-11.
“It will be a joy for us to welcome back one of our all-time best players as we add Tahnee to our staff as a graduate assistant,” said Albright. “Her basketball skill set and love for this great game is impressive. She will continue to be a great influence in the Native American community, as well as our state. I am excited Tahnee has chosen to pursue her master’s degree and start down the career path to coach.”
Robinson was named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Newcomer of the Year following her first season and is a two-time All-WAC first team honoree. In 2011 she became Nevada’s first WNBA selection, drafted in the third round by the Phoenix Mercury. Since her career ended with the Pack, Robinson had played four seasons of professional basketball overseas. She will enroll in the university’s educational leadership program.
Hardgrove comes to Reno from Minerva, Ohio, where she recently received her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Malone University. For the past few summers, she has worked at Point Guard College (PGC) as a basketball site coordinator and skill development instructor at multiple colleges and universities across the country. In addition to her summer duties, Hardgrove also handled basketball registration and customer service with the courses offered at PGC.
“Kassidy will be a fantastic addition to our staff as she studies in our nationally-ranked MBA Program,” Albright said. “She has been on staff at Point Guard College for the last several years and has a passion for people and basketball. “Her expertise and attention to detail will make a huge impact on our team.”
Both Robinson and Hardgrove will officially start their graduate assistantships later this summer.
