Sounds like Kent State is close to hiring a new coach. According to multiple sources, Memphis associate head coach Danielle O’Banion appears to be at the top of the list. O’Banion has been at Memphis for the past four seasons. She has also been an assistant at Washington State and Harvard. Look for an announcement as early as this afternoon.

I can confirm that Associate head coach Stacy Alexander and assistant coach Joi Jefferson are no longer on staff at Towson. Alexander had been at Towson for 11 seasons, and was an assistant at Washington State before that. Jefferson has been on staff for six seasons. She is a former player at CAA rival Northeastern. No word on why they departed or any possible replacements. We’ll stay on this one.

I have heard that Johnson C. Smith head coach Vanessa Taylor is involved with the vacant job at NC Central. Taylor has compiled a 225-112 record in her 11 seasons at JCSU including a 22-7 mark this year. She also spent 7 seasons as the head coach at Elizabeth City State and two years as an assistant at Hampton. It sounds like she wrapped up her interview late last week, and may be mulling an offer.
