Daily Dirt – 7/2/12

A bunch of things that I’ve heard as we sail into July…

• John Ishee, the former head coach at Southeast Missouri has been named as the head coach at Ranger JC (TX). Ishee went 77-74 in his five seasons at SEMO and has also been the head coach at Life (GA) and New Mexico Highlands. He worked for a scouting service last season after being released at SEMO in 2011.

• Rogers State (OK) has scheduled a 2:00pm press conference to name their new head coach. According to multiple sources, the choice will be Texas Lutheran head coach Roxanne Long. She has spent the past four seasons at TLU and has also been an assistant at Oral Roberts. Long is a former standout player at Oklahoma.

• I have heard that Austin Thoms has been hired as the video coordinator at Nebraska. He was a graduate assistant at Hawaii Pacific University the last two years on the men’s side. Prior to that, he played at the Concordia (NE) before finishing his career at Taylor University (IN).

• I mentioned last week that Dickinson State was down to two finalists (http://www.whoopdirt.com/blog/5d78f72f/hot-rumor-dickinson-s…). I’ve now heard from two separate sources that the choice will be former LaGrange University head coach Caleb Harrison. The official announcement could come as early as today.

• It sounds like the search for a new head coach at Johnson C. Smith will come to an end this week. I have heard that the two finalists completed the interview process last week, and a decision is expected any day. I’ll keep you posted as soon as I hear something.
