Daily Dirt – 7/30/12

Here are a some things that I’ve heard over the past few days…

• It sounds like the two finalists for the Western New Mexico job are Rusty Kennedy, the head coach at Our Lady of the Lake University (TX) and former Cal Baptist interim head coach Jeff Caha. Apparently Kennedy was on campus interviewing late last week, and Caha will be on campus today and tomorrow. A decision is expected by late this week, or early next week.

• I have heard that Pittsburg State (KS) assistant Caitlin Demarest will become the new assistant coach at Seward County CC (KS). Demarest, who is a Pitt State alum, served as a volunteer last season at her alma mater. She will move into a full-time role at Seward.

• Newbury College (MA) assistant Shannon Clark has departed and will become the new girls basketball coach at Westwood (MA)HS. He had been at Newbury for one season, and had previously served as the head women’s coach at Wheelock College (2007-2008).

• Interesting article here…apparently former California University of Pennsylvania head coach Mark Swasey is going to sue his former employer. He was at the school for just over two seasons when he was replaced in December.
