Eric Simpson, who has spent the last four seasons as the head women’s basketball coach at Loyola University Chicago, has resigned from his post. A national search for a new coach will begin immediately.
"I want to thank Coach Simpson for his hard work and contributions to the program," Loyola Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. M. Grace Calhoun said. "The program has taken some important steps forward under Coach Simpson’s leadership. We now turn our sights to recruiting a high-caliber coach capable of building this program into a perennial contender for conference championships and post-season play, while affording our student-athletes the high-quality experience they expect from a Jesuit institution."
During his tenure at Loyola, in which the Ramblers finished higher than fifth place just once, Simpson compiled a 57-66 (.463) record. In 2012-13, Simpson guided the Ramblers to a 17-15 finish and their first-ever appearance in the title game of the Horizon League Championship, which they dropped to No. 20 Green Bay, 54-38, on Sunday.
