BREAKING: Harper fired at NC State

The NC State Department of Athletics announced today that head women’s basketball coach Kellie Harper will not return in 2013-14.

“We thank Kellie for her service to our women’s basketball program,” said Director of Athletics Deborah A. Yow. “We wish her the best in her future endeavors.”

Harper just completed her fourth year at the helm of the Wolfpack. She posted an overall record of 70-64 (.522) and was 23-39 (.371) in the Atlantic Coast Conference. She led the team to the NCAA Tournament once during her tenure, in her first year. The Pack finished this season at 17-17 overall and in a seventh-place tie with a record of 7-11 in the ACC.

“We will begin a national search immediately,” said senior associate athletics director and women’s basketball supervisor Michael Lipitz, “but have no specific timeline for completion.”

Ken Griffin will continue in his current role as assistant coach and lead the program in the interim period.
