New York University has hired Jenna McLaughlin as an assistant coach with the women’s basketball team. Her primary responsibilities will include equipment and film management, game scheduling and guard development. She will also assist in the team’s recruiting and scouting efforts.

McLaughlin comes to NYU from NCAA Division I Sacred Heart University, where she spent two seasons as an assistant coach and was involved in all aspects of the program. During her two seasons there, the Pioneers compiled a 43-20 overall record, including a NCAA Tournament appearance in 2012.

While at Sacred Heart, McLaughlin worked with new Violets’ Head Coach Lauren Hall-Gregory.

Prior to beginning her coaching career at Sacred Heart, McLaughlin played for Molloy College from 2007-10. A shooting guard for the Lions, she was part of two Division II NCAA Tournament teams. In 2008, her junior year, the team captured the East Coast Conference Championship and earned a NCAA bid for the first time in the history of the program. As a graduate student in 2010, McLaughlin served as team captain. She led the Lions to a program-record 22 wins, another East Coast Conference title and a second NCAA Tournament appearance.
