Recruiting, administration and coaching instruction for the intercollegiate women’s basketball program.
Determine where and when to travel to locations across the country as well as deciding who to recruit and provide scholarship offers to. Take a decisive role in planning and monitoring the budget (taking into account both team and recruiting travel costs and expenditures). Determine practice and game schedules, work with the Athletic Director in developing the annual field for the Carr’s/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout and ensuring that the tournament runs smoothly for the community and participating teams. Take the lead role in ensuring compliance with all rules and regulations of the NCAA, Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) and the University. Take a major role with fund-raising, community outreach programs and club activities to promote women’s basketball as an integral part of the community and the university’s goals. Coach athletes in practice and game situations on the fundamentals of basketball. Instruct and evaluate their performance based on the systems established by the coaching staff.
