Iowa Women’s Basketball Head Coach Lisa Bluder earned her 800th win on Sunday in the Hawkeyes’, 88-61, win over Michigan State inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. She becomes the 14th overall Division I women’s head coach and the fifth active head coach to achieve this accomplishment.
“It’s special being on your home court, obviously, but being able to share that with your family and the women on this team is just so much fun. I enjoy them so much and I’m very thankful that I get to be around them every day.”
Bluder is in her 22nd season at Iowa. Her career highlights include:
Surpassed Hall of Famer C. Vivian Stringer (269 wins) as Iowa’s all-time winningest coach in program history on Feb. 10, 2014 (Northwestern, 90-84)
NCAA Division I women’s basketball’s 14th winningest coach
2019 Naismith Coach of the Year
Coached the 2018-19 Hawkeyes to their first Big Ten Tournament Title since 2001
Led Iowa to 14, 20-win seasons in her 20 years, including 12 of the last 14 years Took Iowa to its first Sweet Sixteen since 1996 in 2015, returning again in 2021, and its first Elite Eight since 1993 in 2019

Three-time WBCA Regional Coach of the Year (2001, 2008, 2018, 2019)

Named to the Division I Midwest Representative of the WBCA Board of Directors in 2003
Has served on the WBCA Kodak All-American selection committee for four terms and the Midwest Regional Advisory Committee for the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championships
