According to a Baltimore Sun report, former Maryland standout Juan Dixon will be named as the head women’s basketball coach at the University of District Columbia. He will replace DeWayne who became head women’s basketball coach at Coppin State this past spring.
Dixon, a first round draft pick by the Washington Wizards in 2002, had spent the past three seasons as a special assistant to the head coach on Mark Turgeon’s staff at his alma mater. The 2002 ACC player of the year, and all-time leading scorer at Maryland, also spent eight seasons playing in the NBA for the Wizards, Trailblazers, Raptors, and Pistons. According to the report, he will meet with his team for the first time today.
More on this when it becomes official.
