Upper Iowa University is seeking candidates for an Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach.  Upper Iowa is a member of NCAA Division II and the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Professional and personal integrity are of high priority. This is a 12-month full-time position that starts immediately.

Job Description

The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Upper Iowa University reports directly to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and is responsible for assisting in the planning, directing, and evaluating all aspects and facets of a successful Women’s Basketball program on the NCAA Division II level. Duties include, but not limited to: recruitment of highly skilled and academically qualified student-athletes, monitor academic progress and eligibility and effectively analyze and teach the fundamental skills and strategies of the sport. Directly assist in the planning, organizing, conducting, and evaluating of practice sessions along with developing, implement, and evaluate game plans and strategies. Serve as a leader, mentor, and role-model to the student-athletes of the program. Directly assist Head Coach in the preparation of competitive team schedule, participate in public relations/media activities, and fundraising initiatives. Oversee administrative processes and procedures as assigned. Ensure compliance with all Department, University, NCAA, and GLVC policies, procedures, and regulations.

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Two years experience with organized women’s basketball at the collegiate or AAU level.
• Commitment to high standards of character as well as a commitment to student-athlete success both academically and athletically.

Preferred Qualifications 

• Previous collegiate basketball coaching and playing experience.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules.
• Midwest recruiting ties.
• Experience in HS/college player skill development.
• Familiarity with Synergy and FastModel scouting software.
