Schlump Promoted to Associate Head Coach at Skidmore

Elyse Schlump has been promoted to associate head coach for the Skidmore College women’s basketball team.

Schlump became Darren Bennett‘s top assistant two years ago and has been instrumental in helping build a Thoroughbred program that made its first NCAA DIII tournament appearance in 2015.

“Elyse is vital to our staff and our programs continued championship progress,” said Bennett. “She is an extremely hard and diligent worker who is always seeking out ways to improve herself as a coach and our team and program in whole.”

As a recruiter she hit the ground running and helped to garner two strong back-to-back recruiting classes, including 2014 conference rookie of the year, Kelly Donnelly.   Elyse works with the post players, helps develop offensive and defensive game plans, and is an integral part of the recruiting process.  She also handles different parts of our community service commitments and coordinates clinics and summer camps.

Prior to her arrival at Skidmore, coach Sclump spent two years as an assistant coach at her alma mater Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Mich. while pursuing her master’s in organizational leadership.

As a student athlete at Concordia, Schlump was a two-time captain and during her senior season she led her team to its first NAIA DII National Tournament.
