Maryland Eastern Shore Adds Casey Morton to Women’s Basketball Staff

Head Coach Fred Batchelor and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Women’s Basketball team welcomed a familiar face to the sidelines. Former Hawk standout Casey Morton returns to The Shore as an assistant coach after an illustrious four-year career in the Maroon & Gray. Morton joins Associate Head Coach Revonda Whitley, Assistant Coach Cedric Jenkins, and Graduate Assistant Vontreece Hayes on Batchelor’s staff.

“I’m excited to join the staff,” Morton stated. “I was blessed to have the opportunity to play my collegiate career here and I’m back where it all started. I’m looking forward to the season while learning from a great and seasoned coaching staff.”

Morton ended her collegiate career with 1,230 points, which is fourth all-time in the program’s Division I history. The Eastern Shore native also ranks fourth in total assists (296) and total steals (188).

“It is great to have Casey Morton join our staff,” said Batchelor. “She has continued to support Lady Hawk Nation since she graduated in 2011. I have always appreciated her involvement with the current players as a local graduate.”

In her freshman year, she won Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Year while earning a spot on the conference’s All-Rookie Team. Morton was selected to the All-MEAC team in her senior year after posting more than 11 points-per-game (PPG).

In high school, she scored over 2,500 career points at Mardela and named conference Player of the Year as a senior. Also, Morton was selected to the Bayside First Team and Warriors’ Most Valuable Player (MVP) all four years while guiding her squad to four consecutive regular season and Bayside Championships in that same time span.
