Lackawanna College Names Kayla Sileo Head Coach

The Lackawanna College Athletic Department is pleased to announce that it has hired Kayla Sileo as its head women’s basketball coach. Sileo replaces Joya Whittington, who vacated that position to take an assistant’s position at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Sileo served as the Falcons’ assistant during the last two Region XIX seasons.

She is a May 2013 graduate of Misericordia University, Dallas Pennsylvania, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree with a major in in Healthcare Management and a minor in Marketing. At Misericordia, Sileo played basketball for four years, during which she played 109 games scored 476 points, pulled down 217 rebounds, recorded 50 steals and dished out 77 assists. During her junior year the Cougars won the MAC Freedom Division Championship and participated in the NCAA DIII Women’s Basketball Tournament. In her senior year she served as one of Misericordia’s co-captains. Sileo has also coached 3 years for NEPA Flames AAU basketball program; and has offered individual instructions in basketball skills and/or strength & conditioning development for athletes

She is originally from Throop, Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Holy Cross High School in Dunmore, Pennsylvania.
