Kaskaskia College Promotes Janelle Kuhn to Head Women’s Basketball Coach

The Kaskaskia College Athletic has announced that Janelle Kuhn has been hired as the Head Coach for the KC Blue Angels Basketball Program after serving one year as the assistant coach for the program.

KC Athletic Director Kim Rahar feels the new head coach will do a great job.  “I am very excited about Janelle taking over the Blue Angel Basketball team. Her knowledge, leadership and experience will help build a strong program at KC”.

Kuhn, a 2005 graduate of Okawville High School, played golf and basketball at Illinois College in Jacksonville where she was an all-conference selection in both sports.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and Health.

Her basketball resume includes assistant girls basketball coach at West Central from 2009-2010; head girls basketball and golf coach at Red Bud High school from 2010-2014; and head girls basketball coach at Carlyle HS in 2014-2015.

Kuhn is the first female athlete at Okawville High School to achieve 12 Varsity Letters.  She currently is teaching at Carlyle Jr. High School and resides in Okawville.

Kuhn says of her new role, “I am beyond excited to be taking the reign of our Blue Angels women’s basketball program.  It has been a goal of mine to be a head coach at the collegiate level and am truly grateful for the opportunity that has been presented.  We are excited to get back on the court and will be working hard towards our goals of a 25 win season, being Region champions and getting a bid to the NJCCA National tourney.  We have a strong and talented core of athletes returning with the addition of decorated freshmen that will be an excellent recipe for a successful season”.
